<h2>The WIDA ELD Standards Framework, 2020 Edition</h2><p>The WIDA ELD Standards Framework is the foundation of the WIDA suite of assessments. As you learned in the Meadow, this includes WIDA Screener, WIDA MODEL, and WIDA ACCESS. The WIDA English Language Development Standards were first released in 2004, but in this course, we are focused on the latest edition of the Standards Framework, the 2020 Edition.</p><p>There are five Standards Statements within the Framework:</p><p><strong>Standard Statement 1</strong>, Language for Social and Instructional Purposes, applies to a range of school settings and covers a range of activities such as establishing routines, asking for clarification, and following procedures. <h2>The WIDA ELD Standards Framework, 2020 Edition</h2><p class="dialogue">You're wise to return, as this is the foundation of our work!</p><p>The WIDA suite of assessments includes <a href='https://wida.wisc.edu/assess/screener' target='_blank'>WIDA Screener</a>, <a href='https://wida.wisc.edu/assess/model' target='_blank'>WIDA MODEL</a>, and <a href='https://wida.wisc.edu/assess/access' target='_blank'>WIDA ACCESS</a>.</p><p>The WIDA English Language Development Standards were first released in 2004, but the latest edition of the Standards Framework is the 2020 Edition.</p><p>There are five Standards Statements within the Framework:</p><p><strong>Standard Statement 1</strong>, Language for Social and Instructional Purposes, applies to a range of school settings and covers a range of activities such as establishing routines, asking for clarification, and following procedures. As such, it works both independently from, and in conjunction with, the other Standards Statements.</p><p><strong>Standards Statements 2–5</strong> focus on ways multilingual learners can communicate information, ideas, and concepts necessary for academic success in the content areas: Language for Language Arts (Standard 2), Language for Mathematics (Standard 3), Language for Science (Standard 4), and Language for Social Studies (Standard 5). </p><p>In 2020, WIDA updated the ELD Standards Framework, which kicked off a review of our assessments.
